Industrial Development
The City of Locust Grove began as an industrial town, with cotton gins and warehouses within the downtown area close to the train depot for shipping and receiving goods from around the area. Since that early time, the economy became more locally-based on residents within the surrounding Henry County, Butts County, and Spalding County areas for local retail and service trade as the Atlanta Metropolitan Area began to spread into our area in the 1980s through the early 2000s.
Now, the city is beginning to see a new surge in the development of industrial projects, centered mainly along Interstate 75 and the Highway 42 (SR 42) Corridor. Several large national development companies are actively working on massive distribution and logistics centers that have played a major role in the modern development of Atlanta and the Henry County Region.
CRG, based in St. Louis, MO and Scannell Properties, based in Indianapolis, IN and Minneapolis, MN are the primary developers in the city at the current time. Each bring to the Henry Global Gateway buildings ranging from a half million square feet to over a million square feet in cross-dock single buildings with prime interstate access.
We work with our partners at the Henry County Development Authority in the marketing and assistance in getting these developments fully staffed and operating in the very near future.
